Zac Efron's Biography

Zachary David Alexander Efron (or Simply Zac Efron for short) was born October 18, 1987 in San Luis Obispo, California, Through-out his childhood he preformed in several school play productions until he was recommended to a talent agent by his drama teacher, from there it's simply history. Zac began landing roles in television shows such as "ER", "CSI - Miami", "The Suite Life of Zac and Cody", and eventually became a series regular for the WB (Now CW) series "Summerland".

After Summerland ended Zac took parts in movies such as "Miracle Run" and "The Durby Stallion" and in 2006 took part in a small film named "High School Musical", the movie ended up launching his career worldwide, the movie also launched a number one soundtrack featuring the single "Breaking Free" with Vanessa Hudgens. Efron took critism when it was revealed his voice was blended with aspiring singer Drew Seeley. Zac defended himself stating that he was introduced to the movie well after the songs were written and recorded, and it was to late to completely rerecord the tracks, so his voice was simply blended in, Zac he wanted to be taken for a "Serious dramatic actor, not necessarily a singer".

Zac did however take all of this in stride and recorded his own vocals for "Hairspray", which would be his first film after High School Mania had hit the movie grossed $27,476,745 it's opening weekend and became the third highest grossing musical film in the United States. In 2007 Efron began work on the second High School Musical film which aired in August of 2007 on Disney and raked in 17.2 Million viewers opening night and became the most viewed basic cable telecast in history and over all over 88 Million worldwide have seen the film.

For the remainder of 2007 Efron was spotted with High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens and also appeared in the music video for her second single "Say Ok", sparking rumors the two were dating, which has never officially been confirmed by either Efron or Hudgens. Zac also signed on to star in the films "Seventeen" along side Matthew Perry and "Me and Orson Welles" a remake of 1984 movie "Footloose" as well as "High School Musical 3 - Senior Year", which as of right now is believed to be the last version of the film featuring the entire original cast.
